|Music students earn high ratins in Ogallala|

Holyoke students in grades 5-8 recently performed at the Ogallala, Neb. solo and ensemble competition Saturday, March 24.
Bringing home superior (1) ratings on vocal solos were Whitney Powell (1+, perfect score), Megan Humphreys (1), Mackenzie Thompson (1), Josilyn Lutze (1-), Lori McWilliams (1-) and Dani Brandt (1-).
Earning an excellent (2) rating on vocal solos were Emily Krogmeier (2+), Juana Penzing (2+) and Brook Prottsman (2).

Vocal ensemble superior ratings included Krogmeier and Penzing (1), Tara Krueger and Jaxie Gerk (1) and Humphreys and Powell (1). Members in “The Beautiful Rain” ensemble (1) were Krogmeier, Lutze, Thompson, McWilliams, Powell, Humphreys, Brandt, Penzing, Krueger, Gerk, Kaitlyn Lenhart and Megan Parker.
Excellent ratings for vocal ensembles were awarded to America Gonzalez Burciaga and Jasmine Cazares (2), Parker and Lenhart (2) and Brandt and Parker (2).
In the instrumental competition, perfect 1+ ratings were earned by Powell, piano solo and flute solo; Brandt, piano solo; and Austin Herman, alto sax solo.
The flute trio of Grace Dille, Anna Jelden and Powell received a perfect 1+ rating. Penzing and Krogmeier received a 2 rating on their alto sax duet.
