|Holyoke Elementary kids compete in Brain Bowl|

Saturday, March 10, two teams from Holyoke Elementary School competed in the Ft. Morgan Optimists Club annual Brain Bowl competition.
Each team consisted of six members who answered questions in the areas of literature, science, math, history, technology and trivia. Students competed against teams from other schools to earn points during one written round and four oral rounds of questions.
The fifth- and sixth-grade team placed fourth out of 11 teams, and the third- and fourth-grade team placed fifth out of 14 teams.

Students were chosen to participate on the team based upon a general knowledge assessment.
Representing grades 3-4 were Tate Dille, Slaten Burris, Jillian Warren, Josie Herman, Rylan Worley and Tristen Roll. Students on the grade 5-6 team were Alex Vieselmeyer, Brenna Sullivan, Kyra Loutensock, Anna Jelden, Kaitlynn Prelle and Luke Krogmeier.
Students practiced questions and strategy for eight weeks to prepare for the competition. Coaches for the Brain Bowl teams were Christina Martinez and Laura Loutensock.
