Members of The Long Run band plan to invade Haxtun Schools for the 39th annual Haxtun Lions Club Chuckwagon Dinner and Show Saturday, March 17.

This year’s event includes all the favorites—family entertainment and the usual roast beef dinner with all the sides.

Proceeds from the Lions Club event help support community service projects. The Haxtun Lions Club sponsor or donate to the following projects: gazebos in Haxtun’s park, emergency equipment for the local fire department, Phillips County Relay for Life, Bulldog and American flags that fly on main street in Haxtun, the 9Heath Fair, Haxtun’s median, Haxtun Community Childcare Coalition, scholarships for returning college students, a life line program as well as support for the local library, hospital and school.

Haxtun Lions Club also sponsors an ice cream social each year and donate the proceeds to the art and music departments at Haxtun schools. Additionally, the Lions Club supports vision projects and collects glasses for local individuals in need.

Colorado’s own The Long Run band pays tribute to the Eagles with songs like “Hotel California,” “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Take it Easy” and “Desperado.”

Band members include Mark Trippensee on vocals, drums and percussion; Tony Stevens also on vocals and as lead guitar, mandolin and banjo; Ken Robinson, bass player in addition to vocals; and vocalist Doug Kraus on piano/keyboards, acoustic guitar, pedal steel and Dobro.

Throughout 2011, The Long Run played at gigs across Colorado in addition to Wyoming and Utah. The band has been featured at concert halls, county fairs and benefits across the state for the past several years.
