Colorado U.S. Route 6 Heritage Corporation will sponsor its second annual car show and historical presentation Saturday, April 25. A Model T and Model A Car Show will take place across the street from the Peerless Center on Interocean Ave. from 1-4 p.m. From 2-4 p.m., Lyle Miller of the Colo. Historical Society will present “Historic Gas Stations of Colorado” at the Peerless Theatre. Comments will also be given by Ken Oltjenbruns of the Route 6 Heritage Corp. Various educational Highway 6 displays will be set up in the lobby, and refreshments will be served afterwards. Phillips County Museum will also be opening its doors from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, in honor of the occasion. Colorado U.S. Route 6 Heritage Corp. has been created in Holyoke to promote travel on Highway 6. The organization eventually plans to establish a Visitor and Cultural Center as one of a series of visitor centers along Highway 6. This historic route is also known as the Grand Army of the Republic Highway, named in memory of Civil War veterans. Route 6 spans 3,652 miles and crosses 14 states in its route from Provincetown, Mass. to Long Beach, Calif.
