Holyoke’s junior high girls’ basketball team has kept busy over the past few weeks. The team traveled to Haxtun Thursday, Feb. 2, hosted Sedgwick County Monday, Feb. 6 and traveled to Yuma Tuesday, Feb. 7. In Haxtun, all three teams fell to the Bulldogs. The A team lost 20-43. Brook Prottsman led with eight points, Adi Bencomo six, Megan Parker four and Lori McWilliams two. The B team fell 4-18. Mackenzie Thompson and Karen Nuñez each had two points. Karla Hermosillo had four points for the Dragons in the C team’s 4-8 loss. Against Sedgwick County, both the A and B teams lost. The A team fell 26-30 and was led by Prottsman with eight points, Bencomo and Parker each had six, Roni Beavers four and Kaitlyn Shafer two. The B team fell 7-23 to the Cougars. Thompson led with three while Nuñez and Megan Humphreys each had two points. Against Yuma, the A team results were unavailable. The B team lost a very close 18-19 game. Tara Krueger led the team with six points. Jaylene Dominguez and Humphreys each had four while Hermosillo and Thompson had two apiece. The C team came away with a nice 23-19 win over the Indians. Nuñez led with 12 points, Hermosillo six, Thompson and Humphreys two and Juana Penzing one. The A team traveled to St. Anthony’s Monday, Feb. 13. Results will appear in next week’s issue of the Enterprise. The B team is scheduled to host a tournament with Haxtun, St. Anthony’s and Sedgwick County Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. Holyoke Enterprise February 16, 2012 |
