Fair board explains new team, new ideas and new fair PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Dear Editor,

For some of you it may seem a little early to start thinking about the fair. But there is so much planning and work to be done that the fair board starts working on the future fair as soon as the current one is over, if not sooner.

The Phillips County fair board seems to have a very good team put together and is working extremely hard making progress toward getting the 2012 fair off and running. They have received a lot of help and cooperation from the Extension office as well.

There are some new changes being done with the race track that should make for a very fun and exciting race season for racers and spectators! There are new events and entertainment being planned. Though maybe not as big as surrounding counties, it is an improvement for our fair.

This is what the fair board tries to accomplish each year. We are not only working on goals for the 2012 County Fair, but also we have several long-term goals in place that we are striving to obtain.

One of the bigger projects we have been working on for this year is putting together a sponsorship package that offers different options for people to support the fair financially while being able to see the benefits they are getting in return. Not only do we need the financial support to bring more to this county fair, but we also want the people in this county to feel like they are a part of the fair.

Although the financial part is important, volunteering your time, whether it’s an hour or more, is so critical to the success of the fair. The more activities and events the fair offers, the more people it takes to make them happen. So the fair board would like you to keep that in mind as the fair gets closer.

The fair board sent out sponsorship package letters to all of the businesses, but we would also like the entire community to have a chance to be a sponsor as well. If you are interested in sponsoring the fair in any way, please contact Pam Haynes at 970-854-5700 or Ranae McCallum at 970-580-8053. The deadline for sending the sponsorship money is March 1.

The Phillips County fair board appreciates everyone’s time and support for past, present and future county fairs. Watch your local newspapers and listen to local radio stations for more details on the new and fun-filled county fair that will be here soon!

The 2012 Phillips County fair board members include: Ron Thompson, Jim Helfer, Brent Vieselmeyer, Ranae McCallum, Mike Woodhead, Lisa Atkins, Gary McCallum, Dustin Guthrie, Pam Haynes, Shirley Legg and Matt Winterrowd.
