Dean Patterson of Dailey has been named interim pastor at Fairfield Covenant Church on County Road 40 northwest of Holyoke.

Local landowner and farmer Bruce Rosenbach was recently honored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife as the Wildlife Landowner of the Year for 2002.

Merlyn Macklin’s title will soon change from “Acting Police Chief” to “Police Chief” following a decision by the Holyoke City Council at the Jan. 20 meeting.
Lemoine Ferguson and Lori Groshans were named FHA Beau and FFA Sweetheart at the HHS Sweetheart Dance held Jan. 24.
LaRae Hethcote, owner of The Shaker Box in Holyoke, noted that a close-out sale is now in progress at her store, which will no longer be open after February.
Forty Years Ago
Jan. 13-14, the representatives of the five associations of Great Western growers met in Denver to develop a unanimous position for presentation to Great Western sugar officials.
A special meeting will be held Jan. 31 in the Holyoke Council chambers concerning municipal home rule, which is government based upon the theory that the citizens of a municipality should have the right to decide how their local government should be organized and how their local problems should be solved. Pros and cons of home rule for a community the size of Holyoke will be discussed.
A committee has been selected to review the dress code in the Holyoke Elementary School and Junior High.
Fifty Years Ago
Delmer Schlachter of Holyoke was elected a director of the Northeastern Colorado Milk Producers Association recently at the eighth annual dinner meeting of the organization.
Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Denbo, longtime residents of this community, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 27.
Doyle E. Neiman of Holyoke was recently elected vice president of the Colorado Cooperative Council.
