Holyoke’s boys’ JV basketball team came away with two impressive victories this past weekend.
Friday, Jan. 13, the Dragons played host to Merino and downed the Rams 70-20. They followed that up with a 56-39 road victory at Wray Saturday, Jan. 14.
Holyoke 70, Merino 20
The Dragons poured it on early and never really let up. They led 18-6 after the first quarter and 33-8 at the half.
Holyoke outscored Merino 37-12 in the second half to secure the blowout win.
Harry Paulin led the Dragons with 15 points followed by Tito Fierro 14, Zach Roll 13, Tanner Smith nine, Deyten Klein seven, Jaydin Goldenstein four and Ryan Parker, Chris Bieber, Logan Zeiler and Matt Golden two apiece.
Holyoke 56, Wray 39
After falling behind by three after the first quarter, the Dragons battled back to tie the Eagles at 19 at halftime last Saturday.
Coming out of the locker room, it was all Holyoke. They put 25 on the board in the third while holding Wray to just six. Wray managed to outscore the Dragons 14-12 in the final period but it didn’t matter as the third quarter pretty much secured the win for Holyoke.
Paulin led the scoring with 13 points. Klein had 12, Fierro eight, Golden, Parker and Zeiler six, Roll four and Smith one.
