Holyoke High School’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and FFA held their annual service sale and Rocky Mountain Osyter Fry Tuesday, March 31.
The service of 56 members was sold, including three who are members of both organizations, so their sale price was split between both.
FFA had a total of 26 participants, raising an average of $116.15 per member. FCCLA sold the service of 33 members for an average of $137.73.
This year’s top seller was Taylor Haidle at $270.
Approximately 130 meals were sold, and due to the good price buyers paid for auctioned roast beef and rocky mountain oysters, the groups almost broke even on the meal. As a general rule, approximately $200 is lost on the meal each year.
“It was a great sale,” said FCCLA advisor Susan Ortner. “And was probably better than we had hoped for in tough economic times,” she added. “Thanks to all who supported both organizations.”
