Summer baseball and softball seasons are just around the corner. Those interested in participating in the city’s summer rec program should register April 13-24.
Registration forms can be picked up at the city office, located at 407 E. Denver, and should be returned by Tuesday, April 28. Participants who turn in forms after April 28 must pay a $10 late fee.
The summer rec program is being organized by the City of Holyoke. Fees must be paid at the time of registration, and parents must sign a waiver for a child to participate.
Baseball/softball registration is open to children ages 8-15. Those ages 5-6 may register to play T-ball. Boys age 7 and girls ages 7-8 will play coach pitch. To participate, students must be 5 by April 30, 2009.
Specific practice dates and times will be available to players when they register. Practice times will also be posted at the city office.
June practices for boys’ baseball will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and games will be played Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and evenings.
Girls’ June softball practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, and games will be played on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons and evenings.
Theresa Tharp will once again be the director of summer baseball and softball programs offered by the City of Holyoke. She can be reached by calling 854-4514.
