Holyoke FCCLA chapter traveled to NJC in Sterling for their District FCCLA Conference Wednesday, Oct. 19. Area high schools represented at the conference included Akron, Brush, Fort Morgan, Haxtun, Merino, Sterling, Wray and Yuma.
Parliamentary procedure was conducted at the opening session, demonstrating how typical FCCLA meetings are held. A leadership activity was held for students to be introduced to each other and get acquainted.
Not long after, the multi-media show was held in the E.S. French Theatre. The multi-media presentation, “Take the Lead,” was a Colorado premiere that included an astonishing portrayal of amazing people with amazing stories.
The show expressed leadership, responsibility, inspiration and most of all, perseverance. HHS freshmen helped set up for the three-screen multi-media presentation earlier that morning.
Afterward, students took part in a workshop on the FCCLA planning process, which is the format followed for all competitive state projects.
To end the day, team building activities were held outside. Students learned how important communication is in achieving—with or without a team.
