Members of Holyoke VFW Post #6482 are planning to honor local World War II veterans with a special memorial tree planting celebration this weekend as part of the national “Operation Silent Witness.”

Max Bernard is recognized as the Outstanding Rural Principal for the State of Colorado in his retirement year at Holyoke High School.

Dale’s Barber Shop, owned by Dale Mason, is a new business which opened in Holyoke May 31 at 124 S. Interocean.

The Avenue of Flags surrounding the circle containing the American Legion platform was added to the Holyoke Cemetery over the recent Memorial Day holiday and will be displayed each Memorial Day. The project was made possible by the White Memorial Fund willed to the cemetery board by the late Philip and Frances White.

The electric baseball scoreboard given by Mrs. Charles Sheridan and her late husband were dedicated last week.

Zeezo, Safeway’s delightful comic clown, will be on hand to entertain children of all ages at the Safeway store in Holyoke on June 7.

Two of the nation’s outstanding accordion artists, Bill Palmer and Bill Hughes, will be in Holyoke next week for a concert sponsored by Reed Music Studio.

William Hanson and Ralph A. Lockwood Jr. recently enlisted under the Navy’s buddy program.

Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Rothenberger celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary May 28.
