HHS boys’ basketball team had a great outing against Merino Friday, Jan. 14 winning 43-15. The following night, two points separated the Dragons and the Wray Eagles as Holyoke fell in a close 44-46 game.
Holyoke 43, Merino 15
The Dragons traveled to Merino to face the Rams and left with a huge 43-15 victory.
Holyoke jumped out to an early 13-4 lead and never let up. The Dragons’ defense held the Rams to single digits in each quarter allowing three in the second and third and five in the final period.
Trevor Dalton led scoring with 12 points followed by Ryan Parker eight, Deyten Klein seven, Jaydin Goldenstein, Brett Cumming and Chris Bieber four and Tanner Smith and Logan Tharp two.
Holyoke 44, Wray 46
The Dragons looked to pick up a win on the home court against Wray Saturday night, but lost by two. The home team fell behind 8-12 after the opening quarter but exploded for 23 points in the second while building a 31-17 lead at the half.
Wray fought back in the second half pulling within one, 37-36, heading into the fourth quarter where the Eagles managed to pull out the two-point win, 46-44.
Klein scored 12 for the Dragons followed by Dalton and Tharp eight, Goldenstein six, Cumming and Jeremy Loutensock four and Logan Zeiler two.
