Sponsor Tracy Trumper is pleased to announce her Student Leadership elective class, which focuses on service learning and leadership, has been awarded an EPYCS grant from the El Pomar Philanthropy Foundation.
The Foundation has begun to phase out the traditional EPYCS program over the next two years. However, schools were able to still apply for a $10,000 grant for the next two years; $5,000 for 2009 and $5,000 for 2010, to offer to nonprofit organizations in their community. There is a limit of $500 to be granted to in-district projects or organizations.
The Student Leadership Class of Holyoke High will be the caretakers of the granting process. Members are making this year’s grant opportunity available to local organizations who want to apply for it.
The class has adopted a philanthropic group name of I.M.P.A.C.T., or Involving Many People Across Communities Today. Its mission is to support the areas of childhood education, teen pregnancy and youth recreation.
All applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 6. Organizations will be notified of the group’s decision after careful review of the applications.
