HHS swimmers, competing on the Sterling High School team, swam at the Valley Vikings Invite Saturday, Dec. 4.

Fine swim performances were turned in by the Sterling team, which placed fifth with 115 points. “The girls did remarkably well,” said Holyoke coach Adria Colver.

Pamela McWilliams and Amy Krogmeier swam on two place-winning relay teams. The 200 medley relay placed fifth and the 400 freestyle relay finished seventh.

In individual races, McWilliams took seventh in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 free. Krogmeier placed sixth in the 100 free and eighth in the 100 breast.

Freshman Malena McWilliams took 10th place in the 200 individual medley race.

Others competing Saturday were Brandi Orand and Katlin Davis of Haxtun.

Next up for the local swimmers will be the league relays at Windsor Thursday, Dec. 9. The dual with Valley was to have occurred Dec. 7, but Valley requested a postponement. That dual has been reset for Thursday, Jan. 27.

Swim team members spent the whole day Saturday with coaches Colver and Aly Brinkema. The girls were quite surprised to know Brinkema stopped off at Fort Morgan on the way home and had a baby boy that same evening. They were thrilled for Aly, Ross and new baby son, Ridley.
