Junior High boys face Wray, Haxtun PDF Print E-mail

Holyoke junior high boys’ basketball teams played host to Wray, Tuesday, Nov. 23 with both the seventh and eighth grades playing A and B games.

The eighth grade A team fell one point short to the Eagles 26-27. Tito Fierro led the scoring with 14 points followed by TJ Gertner six, Dylan Kotch four and Javy Rojo two.

The eighth B team won in impressive fashion 40-22 with Jesus Loya leading all scorers with 12 points. Bradley Cumming scored eight, Marques Harvey six, Kody Timm five, Jesus Martinez and Nicholas Ortner four and Luke Stewart one.

The seventh grade A team beat the Eagles 25-17 with Eric Rojo scoring eight points, Alex Yanez five, Jesus Martinez, Fernando Lopez and Edgar Cruz each with four.

The seventh B team came out on top of a low scoring 9-6 game. Xander Nelson scored four, Tyler Loutensock and Lopez two and Issac Brandt one.

Monday, Nov. 29, teams traveled to Haxtun with the A team earning the only Dragon win. They beat the Bulldogs 31-25.

Fierro scored 17, Gertner five, Rojo and Kotch four and Timm one.

The B team fell 27-37 with Loya scoring 10, Harvey nine, Cumming four, Rojo and Cruz two.

The C team fell 7-31 with Scott Osborne, Loutensock and Austin Vieselmeyer all scoring two and Nelson one.

The Dragons also hosted a B tournament Saturday, Dec. 4 with Sedgwick County, Haxtun and St. Anthony’s. Results will appear in next week’s issue of the Enterprise.

The A team is scheduled to play in the East A tournament Saturday, Dec. 11 at St. Anthony’s in Sterling.

The LPAA A championship will pit the east and west winners together Tuesday, Dec. 14.
