HHS boys’ JV basketball opened the season with two convincing wins over Haxtun Friday, Dec. 3 and Idalia Saturday, Dec. 4.

Holyoke 36, Haxtun 27

After a slow start, the Dragons fought back to lead 15-10 over Haxtun at the half. They added nine points in the third and 12 in the fourth for their first victory of the new season.

Deyten Klein led scoring with 11 points followed by Jaydin Goldenstein 10, Trevor Dalton six, Brett Cumming five, Tanner Smith and Phillip Beck two.

Holyoke 52, Idalia 26

The Dragons hung 25 points on the board in the first quarter alone to put the game with Idalia away early.

They scored 16 more in the second to take a 41-13 lead into the half. Eight points in the third and three in the fourth ended the game in the Dragons’ favor.

Logan Tharp led the team with 15 followed by Dalton 12, Smith six, Beck five, Matt Golden and Klein three and Ryan Parker, Logan Zeiler, Chris Bieber and Zach Roll each with two.
