|Wally Bruce award supports area conservation projects|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
The Haxtun Conservation District would like to extend to any group or organization the opportunity to apply for the Wally Bruce award. Each year the Haxtun CD will accept request letters outlining a conservation project that they would like to implement or needed supplies to enhance learning abilities.
A detailed description including the purpose proposed budget, and start to finish timeline should be included with the request. One request will then be chosen to receive the $500 Wally Bruce award to implement their project.
Chandra Parker’s second grade class at Holyoke Elementary was selected as the Haxtun CD Wally Bruce Award recipient last spring.
Parker submitted a detailed request on behalf of her students to purchase environmental science learning supplies such as an inflatable frog life cycle, sprout and grow window and a butterfly pavilion. Students will be able to watch caterpillars eat, lay eggs, make cocoons before transforming and flying away as a butterfly.
Submit project proposals to the Haxtun CD by March 1, 2011.
