|More support for question 3B|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
I have never written a letter to the editor, but I feel each of us need to understand the urgency and importance of passing 3B. I grew up in Holyoke, and my husband and I graduated from the Holyoke school system.
After college, we returned to the area to farm and both of our children graduated from Holyoke High School. We now have grandchildren going through the system.
I am a retired classroom teacher/guidance counselor. The majority of my years in education were in the Holyoke School District. I was privileged to work closely with the administration, faculty and students of Holyoke.
Each of you as community members and taxpayers deserve a huge thank you for supporting the educational system in Holyoke. Throughout the years we have been able to provide our children, our most precious commodity, with an excellent and well-rounded education which was guided by very knowledgeable and dedicated staff.
Our world today demands one have a solid knowledge base and skills to function in an ever changing world. As our future leaders, it is imperative that our youth are given every opportunity to experience success.
All of these demands take money. Yes, by passing 3B both you and I will pay more tax dollars. But I feel investing in our children’s education is a small price to pay if it assures the opportunity for all youth to graduate and become productive citizens in our community and country.
Would you agree with me that our most precious commodity is our youth?
Please consider thoughtfully why it is important we vote YES on 3B!
