Longhorns edge HHS in Thurs. wrestling dual PDF Print E-mail
Written by Brenda Johnson Brandt
“We just didn’t have a good showing,” said HHS Dragon wrestling coach Duane Stroh of the team’s 36-38 loss in dual action with the Chase County Longhorns at Imperial, Neb. Thursday, Jan. 22.
Stroh said he had pegged four swing matches, and the Dragons won only one of those. Additionally, Holyoke lost one the coach thought would be a win.
Mark Edmonds, Chad Stroh and Brandon Price all earned wins for the Dragons and looked real good, said Stroh.
“We just need to find a way to motivate them for duals,” Stroh added, noting the team performs better in tournament competition.
In addition to the three match wins at Imperial, Holyoke won four weight classes by forfeits. In turn, Chase County captured five wins in wrestling bouts and two wins by forfeit, as HHS could not fill the 215 and Hwt. classes.
