|Mouse races to be held Saturday|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
It’s not dog or horse racing. The creatures will be smaller and probably a bit slower.
Mouse racing is coming to Holyoke Saturday, Sept. 4 to benefit the Holyoke wrestling club. The first annual mouse race will be held at Phillips County Event Center beginning at 6 p.m.
Dinner and a silent auction will get the event started. Mice will then be placed in jars for those attending to look at to determine which one they would like to place their money on.
The mice will then be auctioned off by calcutta auction with the races to follow.
A track system will be set up with six lanes. Five or six mice will race at a time with multiple races being held throughout the night.
There will also be multiple items raffled off throughout the night.
Duane Stroh said the idea stemmed after speaking with his friend and coach of the Burlington wrestling team. Stroh said the annual event is a major fundraiser for the Burlington team and hopes the same can be done for the Holyoke wrestling club.
