Area athletes playing on the junior and senior Buckley Bombers baseball teams were recently recognized for making All-Conference teams in the Panhandle Baseball Conference.
Logan Krueger was named the offensive player of the year for the seniors in the first annual Panhandle Baseball Conference All-Conference team selection. Krueger was also named to the senior first team.
Others on the Buckley team earning honors were Deyten Klein of Holyoke and Jeff Sherman of Chappell who were named to the juniors All-Conference first team. Second team honors went to Logan Tharp of Holyoke and Brady Heinz of Haxtun.
Sherman was named the defensive player of the year while coach Bill Hughes of Chappell was named coach of the year.
Buckley teammate joining Krueger on the senior All-Conference first team is Richie Rochlitz of Julesburg. Named to the second team were Ryan Dee of Haxtun and Tyler Dale of Chappell.
The Panhandle Baseball Conference was created in 2010 in order to raise awareness of American Legion Baseball in western Nebraska, and currently has five teams including Alliance, Buckley (Chappell), Chadron, Gering and Sidney.
Casting votes for the first annual all-conference teams were the coaches within the conference.
