Beginning Monday, July 12, those walking through the doors at Pamida in Holyoke to get prescriptions filled will be greeted by a new face.
Spencer Kimble is set to begin his duties as the new pharmacist at Pamida after recently moving to town with his wife Rhiannon.
Kimble has spent the last few years working at King Soopers in Ft. Collins, Loveland and Greeley and decided it was time for a change. He was contacted by a recruiter for the position in Holyoke and now is ready to begin.
“I like small towns,” he said. “It’s going to be nice to be here.”
Kimble grew up in Evanston, Wyo. and attended University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. after graduating from high school. He bounced around a little bit studying psychology and anthropology before turning to pharmacy. He finished in 2007 and went to work on the Front Range.
Rhiannon will attend nursing school at NJC. She already has a degree but has decided to go back to school, according to Spencer.
Kimble said he is really looking forward to being in a smaller town. He is looking forward to walking to work and living in a crime-free area. Getting to know people and patients by their first name is another plus.
Working in the larger King Soopers setting he wasn’t given the time to meet people. “It’ll be a nice change to be able to know everybody by first name,” he added.
He enjoyed the smaller setting while an intern in Cheyenne, Wyo. where he worked in a community pharmacy.
In his free time he enjoys golfing with his wife, reading, playing video games and spending time with their “giant happy German Shepherd named George.”
“I’m happy to be here and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone that comes in,” Kimble said.
