Colorado’s bid for $377 million in federal Race to the Top education stimulus funds was strong enough to land it among the 16 finalists, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced Thursday morning, March 4.
Duncan reported Colorado, Delaware, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Tennessee made the finalist cut. Forty states and the District of Columbia applied.
Holyoke is included in the Colroado grant application through a letter of interest by Northeast BOCES.
Should Colorado be one of the selected states to receive Race to the Top funds, Holyoke could receive between $25,000-$77,000.
