|Girls beat Fleming in thrilling double overtime game|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Kaylee Groshans goes up for a basket in Holyoke’s varsity win over Fleming last Thursday. Designated as a Pink Zone game, the HHS girls were dressed in white uniforms, trimmed in pink, to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Extra money from the girls’ basketball team as well as the fifth and sixth grade girls’ basketball program contributed to the new uniforms. They can be used in years to come as the team continues to participate in this annual event.
The Lady Dragon basketball team signed on with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) nation of coaches to participate in this Pink Zone game. Pink Zone is a global, unified effort to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. A pink and white basketball was autographed by the HHS Lady Dragon team and auctioned at last week’s ball game to raise funds for the fight against cancer. —Enterprise photo
