HHS boys’ jayvee basketball grabbed two wins over Weldon Valley and Sedgwick County, Thursday and Friday, Jan. 21-22. They beat Weldon Valley at NJC 47-24 followed by a 41-27 win at Sedgwick County.
The two wins improve their record to 9-1.
Holyoke JV 47, Weldon Valley 24
Holyoke hit the floor running quickly, pulling ahead of the Warriors. They led 12-4 after the first stanza and 24-6 at the half.
Eight players scored for the Dragons led by Cody Fricke with 10. Jaydin Goldenstein scored eight, Brett Cumming seven, Willie Greenman and Seth Baker each with six, Austin Killin five, Bradley Coyne and Jeremy Loutensock scoring three and two respectively.
Greenman and Fricke each knocked down two three-pointers. The Dragons drained seven shots from beyond the arc.
Holyoke JV 41, Sedgwick County 27
A 41-27 win was decided in the fourth quarter after Holyoke outscored the Cougars 17-3 in the final stanza to secure the win.
Sedgwick County led by two points heading into the third quarter. The teams were tied after three quarters before the Dragons pulled away during the fourth.
Scoring was distributed evenly across the bench as nine players put points on the board. Baker led with eight, Alex Quintana and Killin each with six, Greenman and Goldenstein each scored five, Cumming and Deyten Klein each with four and Loutensock and Coyne scored two and one respectively.
