Celebrating August as Child Support Enforcement Month PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. and the Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Child Support Enforcement (CSE), proclaim that August is Child Support Enforcement Month. The month will be celebrated throughout the state in many of the 55 county CSE offices and across the nation in the CSE offices of other states.

Colorado child support professionals, numbering 715 across the state, provided services for over 140,000 families in Colorado by establishing and enforcing paternity, child support and medical support orders. This directly supports the Division’s vision that children can depend upon their parents for the financial, medical and emotional support they need to be healthy and successful.

In 2008, Colorado child support collections were $320,690,560, an increase of seven percent over 2007. Also, the number of paternities established in 2008 increased by two percent. That means 18,077 father’s names were added to children’s birth certificates. The Division is also celebrating the newest enforcement remedy, the interception of gambling winnings. Over a 12-month period the collections from this remedy were over $523,000.

A sincere thank you is extended to the parents who support their children financially, medically and emotionally. They help Colorado’s children succeed. When they support children, they support the future.
